宀 (2024)

In our project make & made, we give old materials a new lease of life in the form of a stool. This project also allowed us to explore joinery designs in furniture as well as a hands-on experience of woodworking and construction.

宀(mian) is the chinese radical for roof, which inspired the form and joineries found in this stool.

Design refination and ideas for joineries

In preparation for the final model, several designs were created into marquettes in a 1:5 scale (done in foam and wood)

Collaborating with a recycled plastic organization Plastify, we were given the opportunity to be a part of the recycling process, melting expired disposable masks into plastic slabs.
