In our project BLCKMRKT, we were to create a lamp while reference a famous designer's design language. wisteria references the design style of Oki Sato, a Japanese designer and the founder of Nendo design studio. The name "wisteria" in all lower case is a reference to his naming convention for all of his designs.

Oki Sato often references real-life objects and attempts to recreate experiences into a product. For this lamp, I took inspiration from the iconic wisteria tunnels in Fukuoka, Japan and attempted to mimic the experience of walking through the tunnels.

When creating the design, I considered different kinds of joineries for plastic as well as the installation process during production. I utilized snap-fit joints to connect the tubing together to ensure a smooth finish without needing adhesives.
3 G4 LED light bulbs are installed onto a custom-made lamp holder designed to be a simplified version of wisteria flower buds. A frosted bulb cover is added over the bulb to diffuse the light.

Cross-section of the wiring in the lamp. The bulbs are connected in a parallel circuit so that each bulb can be replaced easily.
