OVOjuice (2024)

In our project Hybrid Theory, we were tasked create a biomaterial by melding food waste with any material of our choice, and use this newly created biomaterial to make a juicer. I chose to mix PP plastic with eggshells to create the OVOjuice.

Several samples were made using various kinds of plastic as well as different ways to incorporate eggshells into the bioplastics.

The pieces of plastic are melted down using a toaster oven. When the plastic is turned molten, crushed eggshells are scattered on top of it. When the plastic is still hot and soft, it is folded together to encase the eggshells into the plastic. By repeating this process while using a mold, a shape is formed.

For an extensive review of the project, please view my Creative Process Journal
